An actual vacation!

I've been home from vacation for over a week and I am still trying to catch up on my email, blogging, editing, etc. Vacations are awesome, but catching up after vacation? Yeah, not so awesome :)

But, I am finally back to blogging after a long break. I hope you enjoyed Kory's posts (even though he didn't post anything embarrassing at all! I guess that's why he's such a good friend, right?). I'm excited to show you photos from my trip ... although I feel silly for posting vacation photos. Don't people usually hate looking through other people's vacation photos? Oops.

I feel like I always go on mini-vacations. You know: Four days here, a long weekend there. And those mini-vacations are usually because I am traveling to a friend's wedding or a family reunion or it is a work trip. I rarely make travel plans just because.

So, about a month ago the opportunity to go somewhere for a week presented itself and I thought "Wow, an actual vacation?" We packed our bags and tent and ...
we (that'd be me and the boyfriend) flew into Phoenix, Arizona then drove up to Grand Canyon National Park for three days of hiking and camping. It was breathtaking!

Here's our view from a hike down into the canyon ::
We were at the Canyon early enough in the season to still catch a few spring flowers ::
Being a tourist is fun!

We attended a few sunset programs at the park. This one was pretty cool ::
After the Grand Canyon, we traveled down to Sedona for a day. Our hotel was right on this little babbling brook.
We eventually made our way back down to Phoenix and Scottsdale. We stayed in an amazing hotel -- that's our outdoor bathtub on the right and the gorgeous spa on the left.
The best part of Arizona? The sun shone every day we were there. Sure, it was freakin' HOT in Phoenix -- our rental car reported it was 112 one day! Despite the heat, I still loved seeing the sun each day. I may need to start wintering in Arizona ...

Lisa and Corey

Hello:) Kory here (aka The master of wind and light, trusty sidekick, chauffeur, sherpa and just awesome!) taking control of the blog universe. Such power and responsibility! For my first post ... another Corey:) A few weeks back we had a great time with Lisa and Corey running around Bismarck. We laughed, cried and laughed some more. So here are some of my favorites:) Was that enough smiley faces for everyone?

Out of town!

I'm going on a real vacation! I leave tonight at 8pm and I'll be back next Wednesday. Are you wondering where I'm headed? You'll have to find out next week when I post the photos :)

Although I'll be gone, the blog will carry on! Kory will be guest blogging in my absence. He's NEVER blogged here before, so this is a first! Kory is threatening to post all sorts of things -- embarrassing photos of me, mostly -- so it should be an interesting week!

Have a good week with Kory :) One thing is for sure :: He uses fewer smiley faces.

Here's a photos from our session last week with Elaina. I love her hat!

Grace (with a bit of Evan)

Meet one of the most adorable 4-year-olds I know :: Grace. Grace is funny (she knows knock-knock jokes!) and sweet, silly and sassy, and has the best "cheesy" smile I've seen in a while. I love spending time with Grace and her little bro Evan. They are both so much fun to photograph!

Also, Grace's mom makes the best brownies in Grand Forks. We got a big pack of brownies when we finished the session and I think they were gone the next day. Who needs real food when you've got brownies for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Evan is a doll :)
