Robert + Nomani are engaged!

Last night our good friend (and fabulous DJ) Robert asked his girlfriend Nomani to be his wife. They had a romantic dinner, then took a walk in a nearby park where Robert got down on one knee and proposed. We were at the park, hiding in the bushes, to photograph the big event!

Robert called us last week to pass the idea by us. "Do you like to hide in bushes?" he asked Kory. Kory likes to be stealthy so this assignment was right up his alley. Robert's mom was also on-hand to set up some flowers and candles at the park before they arrived.

So, there we were, hiding in the bushes, patiently waiting for Robert and Nomani to come. Here's my view ::

Two minutes passed. Then ten. I was getting anxious, so I stood up to check my phone. Just then, Kory stood and yelled toward me, "They are coming!"

I got back in to my stealth position ::

They arrive! Robert says some sweet mushy love-y stuffs ::

Lake, 2009, part one

Here's just a quick post from my time at the lake last weekend ... it rained on and off throughout the day, so mostly we were inside watching the squirrels (squirrel photos to come soon!). I did get a few shots after a downpour. Here's my favorite.

Out for the weekend!

This weekend we are cruising up to Winnipeg for Kiran + Jay's two-day wedding. We are so excited for this wedding!

We'll be back on Monday with lots of photos to show you, of course.

Here's a quick sneak peek from my session with little three-month old Michael. He looks just like his dad and uncles ;) Happy birthday to his mama, Janna, today!

Sugarland concert

I was one of those people who said, "I like everything but country" when someone asked what kind of music I like because, well, country music just wasn't cool. Nowadays I'm not too concerned about what is cool or not. I just like what I like. I still haven't really become a fan of country, but that may be changing ...

Last night we saw Sugarland at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, and to my surprise, had a great time! They put on a great show because they were so real + fun. I may like country music after all!

Also, photographing concerts can be so much fun! Stage lights are so different from the lighting I am used to, so it makes for interesting photos :)

During the encore, Jennifer Nettles sang in the middle of the crowd and I just happened to be standing there when she walked up the stairs to sing. I love the expressions of the fans in this photo.
