Early winter
Weather-wise, it's been an unimpressive year here in the Midwest. It was a cold spring, a cool summer, and now we are skipping fall and heading straight for winter (or so it seems.) The leaves on the trees haven't had time to change color; they are just falling off green.
Yesterday I met up with my favorites girls, Megan and Claire, to play in the leaves.
Here's Megan, getting buried in leaves!

Fall weather, already?
We took a quick trip to the lake over labor day and a fair amount of leaves were already changing ... after all this cool weather during the summer, are we in for an early fall?

Oh my, how our garden grew!
This summer we planted a garden. We planted peppers and corn, broccoli and kohlrabi, peas and carrots on a sunny plot in the southern section of Grand Forks. When we first planted all of the little plants, we weren't too confident they would survive. It was a cool spring. The plants didn't look so good. But then, about a month in to our garden project, things really sprung up! Soon we were up to our elbows in peas and green beans. The tomatoes are all starting to ripen now, and soon we should have lots of squash, pumpkins and watermelon.
Now as summer is coming to a close, here's a look back on our garden ::
The first week, back in mid-May, when Matt and Kory planted everything ::
