The party, part two

Yay for photo booth photos! The best part of any party, whether its a wedding, open house, or just a house party is simply enjoying the company of your friends. Now, I may be biased, but I think the best way to document that fun is with a photo booth!

Here are some photos from the photo booth fun at the party. Coming up tomorrow we'll have the official office photos so you can see how talented we are at hanging photos in a straight line :)

First up :: Kory and Amanda, testing the lights. See the tape in Kory's hand? He carries that with him at all times.

The party, part one

Our new office is officially open and ready for business ... and we celebrated that fact by having a big party last weekend. Our Grand Opening Party on Saturday was amazing! The food was delicious, the music was good, and the company was fantastic! We had friends come from Fargo, family from Minneapolis, and clients all the way from Florida (hi Mandi!). It was great to see everyone and get a chance to visit with some folks we hadn't seen in a while.

I've got lots of photos to show you from the opening party, so I'm dividing them into two blog posts. First, the food ::

Kathy Benda cooked up some really tasty appetizers for us. Doesn't it look good?

Also, here are some photos from the office as we were getting ready on Friday. We'll post the real photos of the whole office on Thursday :)

Tomorrow we'll post all the photos from the photo booth, so check back!

Maura + Gwydion

Oh! Fifteen days into 2009 and I'm already falling behind on blog posts? This just won't stand ...

I promise that as soon as the office is all ready for it's premier (tomorrow night!) I'll be back to blogging on a regular basis! We've got SO MANY fun photo sessions to show you from winter 2008 and some new sessions from 2009.

Let's start with Maura and Gwydion's wedding from winter 2008 ::

Maura and Gwydion contacted me and said they wanted their wedding photographs to capture them in an honest way, showing who they really are. I loved that idea (and, I think, that is what we always try to do with each person we photograph!) and was excited to work with them on their big day!

Maura is amazingly sweet and funny and full of life. In the morning Maura and the girls met up for some coffee, then headed over to the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks to get ready. At the same time, Gwydion was getting ready a few doors over at the Empire. They saw each other for the first time as Maura walked down the aisle with her mom and dad. It was a great moment. Maura and Gwydion's vows brought tears to my eyes and I think all of the guests eyes', too! They were heartfelt and sweet, honest and real, and very well-spoken ;)

After the ceremony we walked around downtown for some photos, then made our way to the Grand Forks Country Club to celebrate the new married couple!

It was a great day and we were so honored to capture it for Maura and Gwydion!

Cara and Jared

We knew we'd like Cara and Jared the second we stepped into their house. The house is bright and colorful and so cheery, and we had so much fun photographing Cara and Jared in their home. Between the bright colors, the beautiful light coming in through the big windows, and the adorable couple, we couldn't have asked for a better session. Then we ventured outside into the chilly air for some snowy fun photos. Cara and Jared are a relaxing, fun-loving couple and we were so happy we had the chance to work with them :)

Don't you love the color of their kitchen?

All bundled up outside ::

Going down a hill in heels is tricky :)
Dining room (love that color, too!)

Woohyun: Senior photos

Last December during a snow storm, Woohyun (or Woo) and her host mom met us at our not-even-close-to-finished office for some senior photo fun! Woo is an exchange student from South Korea who is living in Edmore, North Dakota, during her senior year. It was so cool to chat with Woo about what "senior photos" are like in South Korea. Very interesting!

Woo is fun and intelligent and we wish her the best!

Side note to my photo friends :: these are the first images on the blog by the NEW camera. It took me a while to process these photos because CS3 does not read RAW files from the 5D Mark II ... what a bummer. So, I had to get CS4, then re-import all my settings and actions and f-keys and oh! what a pain. Change is no fun sometimes :)

It was a windy, cold day outside, but we still had fun!
I love the quiet feeling in this photo ::
The color is a little off in this photo and I blame CS4 ... once again, change is bad sometimes.
